We love Weekends!

Daniel and the kids headed over to George's for George and Sissy's birthday party Saturday night while I slaved away at work. Just kidding- I love my job. We had a pretty awesome group Saturday night. And let me just say, that after working all night inside, being a little stressed because it was my first time cooking on Viking commercial equipment, and I can't make up my mind if I just don't like it or if I hate it, and then walking outside the training center to go back down to the retail store and all you see is 25 cop cars and an ambulance and you have no idea what's going on but you assume from all the chaos there was a shooting but there are literally cops running around all over the place so you don't know if there is a crazy gunman on the loose makes for a stressful night. I couldn't wait to get off of Howard Street and get over to George's with the rest of my family! Ashlyn was so glad to be home so she could play with her cousins. She even took Kittrell on a ride in the Barbie keep, but Daniel said that only lasted about 2 minutes before she kicked him out. Sounds about right!

Sunday we went to church, enjoyed a great breakfast reception after church honoring all of the Seniors. (I still can't believe my baby cousin Casey is a senior!) We then spent the rest of the day cooking ribs and pulled pork and the kids played on Kittrell's sprinkler mat. I think Ashlyn likes Kittrell's play mat more than he does!

The weekend has left me with a messy home and lots of dirty laundry- so I have my work cut out for me today! Here's to a great week for all of us!

It's the Weekend!!

Happy Friday! For someone who is working all weekend, I sure do sound happy that Friday is here... The new job is GREAT. A lot different than working in the kitchen like I used to do.. No more cursing and rushing and yelling at servers who screwed up orders.. Nope- i was NEVER mean in the kitchen!! I guess that's why my life is much less stressful now than it was a couple of years ago!
Last night I went to a friend's house for lasagna and to help re-cover an ottoman. But let's be honest. I really only held on to my wine glass and supervised. But I do feel like now, if I ever get the urge to, I might could re- cover a piece of furniture. Wait no- no couches and chairs, just something in the shape of a cube.
Ashlyn went on a field trip to the Museum of Natural Science in Jackson yesterday. I let her take her camera and she took a TON of pictures. CVS better watch out- Ashlyn is coming to get like a thousand pictures printed out soon.
Today Kittrell is crawling around the house naked. It's so cute- he is definitely a boy, though! Every now and then he looks down and gets distracted... Oh and in case you were wondering- he has a case of the diaper rash, so I'm letting him go with no diaper for a bit- just until he starts to pee on everything. That'll be fun to clean up.
It's Daniel's mom's birthday today! If you see Sissy around, tell her 'Happy Birthday'!!
Anyone else so ready for next weekend?? River to the Rails is mine and Ashlyn's favorite time of year (among many others). Abel gets to be in the pet parade this year! Hopefully Magnum P.I.G. will win the BBQ competition! We have some friends and family coming in from out of town so we can't wait! Included in next weekends festivities is my sweet baby girl's First Communion. She is so excited!!
We definitely have a big, busy week ahead of us, but I'm sure it will fly by! Hope y'all have a happy weekend!! Here's a pic of Kittrell (from the waist up, of course) telling y'all to rock on!!

Messy Fun

It's official. Kittrell loves spaghetti. It's worth all that messy clean up afterwards just to see him slurping up all of those noodles! Cutest thing ever!

Geez!!!

It's been a while since my last blog post!! So sorry!! Honestly y'all- I have been SO busy! We've had family in town all week and just didn't want to miss one second of getting to spend time with them. Hopefully next time we all get together, it's not because of a funeral. Ashlyn thoroughly enjoyed her time with Julia's kids... Especially Trey.. So you can only imagine our conversation when I was trying to explain that he was Daniel's cousin.. And they are supposed to be just friends... :) don't tell Ashlyn I told y'all that!! It's so cute though!

Well, congratulate me! I start my new job at the Viking Cooking School Wednesday! I am officially an assistant cooking instructor! Yay!!

So- it's finally the weekend. Time to relax?? Nope. Ashlyn and I are on a mission to find something fun to do today! For about two weeks or so she has had plans for today, but they fell through....thank goodness she has such and awesome fun mom to hang out with instead! She'd rather hang out with the girls today anyways. Kiki and Sofi are coming to town and we are having us a fun girl's day!! Maybe lunch at the Mexican restaurant will be involved?? We will see!!

One more thing!! Good luck to all you Warrior Dash badasses! And to all you others running in their 5k/marathons this morning! Next time, Daniel and I are definitely running the Warrior Dash with y'all!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend- I know I will!! Oh- here is a pic of Ashlyn's finished bunny painting that I said I'd post last time. And another cute one showing how serious Kittrell is about eating a baked potato. Simply adorable.

Easter Weekend

Here's our crazy, full, fun weekend we had- in pictures! (In absolutely NO particular order.  You're just going to have to deal with my crazy cell phone like I do..)  As soon as I picked Ashlyn up from school Thursday, we didn't seem to stop!  Birthday party Thursday night, sleep over company after the party Thursday night, a Walmart trip with two wild girls and a baby Friday morning, a picnic in the park for lunch Friday, dyed eggs once Friday afternoon, then again with the Smith's Friday night, afterwards- a night out with Jeannie Friday night, egg hunt Saturday morning,  crawfish at Websters Saturday afternoon, try to catch up on some sleep Saturday night, church and egg hunt Sunday morning, lunch at Granny's after, then an afternoon at Spring Lake fishing, followed by a Monday at home sprucing up the flower beds and cooking out on the grill.  I am pooped.
Ashlyn's best friend in the whole world had a birthday party- and Ashlyn painted the most awesome bunny rabbit ever!  I'll have to get a picture of the finished product for you later...
After church/ egg hunt Easter morning.  I woke up at 6 a.m. and I swear didn't stop running around until 8:50.  (Ten minutes before church)  That could explain the bad hair day...
Kittrell takes after his Daddy- closing his eyes in all the pictures!
Ashlyn and Daniel got up early Monday morning and headed to get some flowers to plan.  The only thing Ashlyn was interested in was finding BIG worms.  Which she did.  Yuck.
Well, I stand corrected- she did help plant flowers a little..
Ashlyn picked out all of the flowers!
Hunting Easter eggs!  I had to get a picture at the beginning- the Easter Bunny left a TON of eggs- her basket was FULL!
Crawfish at Websters Saturday... With JEANNIE! She came back to visit us!  (Can't you tell she lives in Los Angeles?  I mean- see that tan??) Oh- haha hey Mary Neff!!
Ashlyn had sleep over company Thursday night.  It wore me out!  I made them go to bed that night, so I could get some sleep.  And then when I woke up Friday morning, they were already up!  Abel and Kittrell were like their dolls.  They even dressed them up.  See? I have proof.  I can't believe the guys let the girls dress them up like that!
The Easter Bunny came!  Who knew that a frisbee could make a girl so happy??
Javier, Kiki, and Sofi came over to hunt eggs Sunday morning!
Kaylee was on hand Friday to help Ashlyn dye her Easter eggs!

Food... and Fun!

OMG

I learned something last night.  If you feel at all guilty for eating the best shrimp and grits ever, just throw some asparagus on your plate and look at it as being somewhat healthy.  Cause garlic and herb cheese grits with shrimp and a crawfish cream sauce is NOT healthy at all.  But, dang it- it's so good.  Come visit me, and I'll make it again.  Because it deserves to be made again.  I'd like to give a big thanks to Mary Neff for having a cookout with a ton of crawfish so there was plenty left over for me to take home so I could make this.

Easter is almost here!  Which means Easter break from school so we can go fishing on Monday!  We love to go fishing. (And as you know, Ashlyn loves "falling" in the lake.)  I'm kind of slacking this year, though.... I still haven't gotten Kittrell's first Easter basket painted.  I painted Ashlyn's first one, so of course I had to do Kittrell's, too! Oh! Guess what else??? Jeanie's coming home.  I'm hoping she has had enough of L.A. and wants to move back.  I doubt that, though. And you know what else Easter weekend brings to Greenwood?  Crawfish at Webster's!  I've never missed a year.  Love it.  And... we can't wait for the Easter Bunny to come visit our house!  Ashlyn's getting ready!  Sofi's coming over Sunday to hunt Easter eggs with us- this should be fun!  I love a holiday!

Fun Saturday!!

Viking Half Marathon and a Magnum P.I.G. cookout at the Jefcoat's! The Mattox's came over for the race Saturday morning to help us cheer on the runners. I think all the girls had a great time! And finally, Kittrell and Wood got to play together Saturday afternoon! (Kittrell thoroughly enjoyed eating dirt.) I don't know- when these 2 boys get older, they might be trouble!
