Memphis Trip part 2: Kittrell's First Trip to the Zoo!

I'm pretty sure he had a blast! He would point and reach for all of the animals. So cute!

Ashlyn- she had to ride some rides, of course!
You can feel the excitement from here...
Water!
Having fun! Even though Kittrell wouldn't smile!
Ashlyn the priest
Another blurry picture
This is why I always pack an extra outfit for Ashlyn- she always finds a way to get soaked!
I'm pretty sure he wanted to take it with him...
Greetings from the zoo!

Memphis Trip part 1: Sofi's First Birthday

This past weekend was packed full of fun stuff to do. Starting with sweet Sofia Jayne's 1st birthday party at the Memphis zoo! (I still can't believe that chick is already one year old!) Since we were headed to the zoo, we decided to go ahead and make a full day of it. More on that later... Let's talk about how awesome birthday parties at zoos are. This one was so cute and so much fun- pizza, cupcakes, and a piƱata! The kids had a blast!

Candy!!!
Kittrell really wanted to pull on that table cloth... and get to those cupcakes...
The princess and her cupcake!
Sofi with Granny and Papa
Javier helping Kittrell take a swing at the pinata
Now he wants a drink..
Not so sure about this candle..
Ashlyn and Kittrell's turn at the pinata!
HA! Don't think she likes candles at all!

Ashlyn's New 'Do

Well, Ashlyn got her hair chopped off for the summer! It's so cute! (and she hasn't stopped checking herself out in the mirror yet!)

P.S.

Ashlyn just informed me she is having the best day ever. Not only is she getting all of her hair chopped off this afternoon which she has been begging for for a month now, she came up with the name of my blog! I must say, her happiness is rubbing off on me- I usually don't smile until after lunch and a few more iced coffees.

Haircut pictures coming soon!

Attention!!

Obviously, I've changed the name of my blog.  Again.  However- this one was too good.  While chatting with Ashlyn the other night, we decided how fun it would be to have a food truck.  We may do better starting with a food truck, rather than jumping head first into a restaurant.  I'm not saying I'm ever going to own either- I'm just saying it would be fun.  Ashlyn's only thoughts were on what we should name the food truck.  She said, "Well, how about Breakfast, Lunch, and then Dinner?  You know?  Because you always eat breakfast, then lunch, then dinner??"  I don't know why, but I loved it.  That girl- nothing gets by her!  I still laugh when I think about it.  She was very proud of her idea, as was I!!

Now, if I ever do find myself owning an eating establishment, no- no matter what Ashlyn tells you, you can not eat for free.  I will have bills to pay.

Have a great rest of your Wednesday!

FYI

Do you know what this past Monday was? Mine and Daniel's 2 year anniversary. We snuck off last week to the Bistro (one of our favorites) for a quiet dinner, celebrated with dinner at home with the kids on Monday, and still have a little get- away planned in a couple of weeks. We sure do love celebrating!!

One more thing! I think it's safe to say we have a walker! I'm so not ready for Kittrell to be running around the house, but he has been taking more and more steps every day. He usually takes a step, then stops to clap, then repeats the process. He is so proud of himself!! I don't have any pictures, though. One day I will think to grab the camera- but in the mean time I tear up and cheer him on when he decides to walk instead of crawl.

Father's Day...

A slip and slide, a baby pool, BBQ, and family made for a great Father's Day at Spring Lake! And let's not forget the lemon ice box pie from the Crystal! We were all stuffed, and went to bed early that night!

Happy (late) Father's day, especially to my dad and Daniel! Love you both so much!!

This doesn't need any description...
Someone likes pie!!
It's safe to say that this was Ashlyn's favorite part of the day!
Homemade water slide!!
She said she didn't want any pie because she didn't like lemon icebox pie.  Well, her mind changed when we made her try it..
Working hard!
Muddy? Yes.  But fun!!
His grandmama had so many toys ready for him to play with!
Ashlyn and Danny- hanging out in the lake
Sometimes she went fast, sometimes she went slow.  But just as much fun for her every single time!
One of Daniel's Father's Day gifts.  The kids had so much fun making these!!

Going to Work with Mama!!

Don't you know my kids are lucky? I work at an awesome place- that's full of food. All the time. ( Well, it is a cooking school so why wouldn't it be..) Full of food and cookies! And co- workers who love to give other people's kids cookies! I had to run by work today and took Kittrell with me. Any excuse to get him out of the house- I do believe he is getting bored with me. Big sister is away until Friday, and he sure does miss her! (Me too :( ). Anywho, doesn't he look cute with chocolate cookies all over his face?? Thanks, girls, for the sugar rush!! He really enjoyed it!!

You Know When...

You know you talk on the phone a little too much when everything your son picks up, he puts it to his ear and says, 'hey-o? O? Hey-o?'. It's so cute, though!!

Squash and Tomato Tart Day

I love a tomato tart as much as I love my children. That's no lie. And what I love about it is that you don't have to go to the grocery store. You can make it with whatever seasonings and cheeses you already have. Ideally, you would use mozzarella cheese, but I already had pepper jack so that's what we used today. We got our first big haul from the garden yesterday! I've been wanting a tomato tart badly. I had a big tomato in the fridge. I have my sous chef ready to help out. So why not make a tart today! Sometimes I really do have great ideas. The best part? I made my own pastry dough. And it was good. I don't bake I don't bake I don't bake. So, I was shocked when the dough came out alright. Well, actually Ashlyn handled most of the dough so I'm sure that's why it turned out good! Getting my mise en place, I decided not to leave the fresh squash out of the tomato tart party. I'm so glad we didn't leave the squash out of the tart party. I'm saving the big tart for dinner, so Daniel better hurry home. But, we did have left over dough so we filled up a muffin pan and made our own minis. I'm not gonna lie and tell you Ashlyn and I haven't been eating the mini tarts all afternoon. Ha and to think- Ashlyn said she didn't like tomato tarts. My exact words- 'The only people who don't like tomato tarts are the ones who've never tried them'. I'm always right. Now go make yourself a tomato tart!!

It's official: I'm old

I'm retiring from party buses. Although we had a blast this past weekend celebrating my friend Maggie's birthday, I just can't do it anymore. And I'm not ashamed to admit it! (And sorry for all the fuzzy pictures- I was having way too much fun to notice they were all so bad!)
This bus and I have a love/ hate relationship right now...
Party bus lights!  Too much fun!
Me and Maggie!
At Crawdad's for dinner- the food was SO GOOD!
 Delta boy's bathroom break...
Everyone needs a pretty flask!
