Antique Treasure Hunt

Daniel and I went on an adventure this morning after he dropped Ashlyn off at school.  We finally made it to the antique flea market in Meridian. O.M.G.  It was HUGE. And full of all kinds of treasures.  Those of you with Pinterest accounts-  yeah, you should go- all those nifty ideas of things to do, but you don't have the old stuff to do it with... you'll find it here. (Wow, talk about a run-on sentence.) I was soooo happy.  And Daniel was happy because I was happy.  So it was a happy day.  See all my finds?? (Except the bench- that was already at the Smith house.)  I could have stayed longer, but I got tired of toting Kittrell around.  I'll be back soon, though.  I can't wait to fix up all my stuff!

P.S.- They have TONS of old awesome furniture just sitting there waiting to be painted and distressed. I keep thinking about this one particular piece... maybe when Daniel reads this, he'll go buy it for me?  I mean us.  Yeah, for us. :)

Really?!?!

So it was a typical weeknight here at the Smith house.  Kittrell was fed, swaddled, and in the bed.  Ashlyn was in her bed waiting to get tucked in by me and Daniel.  I was going over all the usuals-  "Are you sure you did all of your homework?", etc.  I then looked over to see again when her science test was this week.  No worries, it's not till Friday.  I quickly glanced over some of the study guide to ask her a few quick questions to see if she had, if fact, been studying ahead of time for it.  I read a particular sentence and got super confused.  "That's not a word", I thought to myself.  But I also didn't want to be wrong.  So I handed the study guide to Daniel and pointed to the sentence.  He was just as confused as I was.  Ok, so either they've invented a new word since Monday, or else Ashlyn's teacher is a dumba$$.  I re-read the sentence several times, thinking, "Well, she's the teacher, not me.  So she has to be right.  I guess it's just a super fancy word that I've never heard of.  Not sure why she's throwing it around with 2nd graders, but maybe she's right."
I'll let you look it over and see if you find it....

I got online and looked it up.  All I was getting was the verb definition for 'warn'.  I kept digging and did, in fact, find the word warners, which is a noun.  And it means someone's name.

REALLY??!!?

That's where your tax money's going, Newton County.  Way to go.

P.S.- this is HAND WRITTEN, not a typo!!

A Weekend at Home, and a Wedding...

I love a wedding.  And I thought I would love a noon wedding.  I didn't feel so well Sunday morning, though, after a noon wedding, a one o'clock reception, an afternoon at Giardina's, and a night at Webster's.  I need to continue to remind myself that I'm not 21 years old anymore!  However, Kristen and Grey's wedding was beautiful, and Daniel and I had a fantastic time spending the day with everyone.  Now, Laura Merrill  is next!!

FYI

What are you doing right now??! Kittrell and I are watching the very last episode ever of All My Children.  You should be watching, too.  Seriously.  Go find a TV and watch it.  Unless you don't read this until after it's over.  If so, you missed out.  Big time.  Have a good Friday!! (I promise I'll be back in full swing next week- I'm packing up to head to Gwood for a very special friend of mine's wedding tomorrow.)  Hopefully, I'll have pics to share!! (I'll try to remember my camera- no promises, though...)

Special Day!!

This past Saturday was spent back home in the Delta, celebrating the Baptism of our sweet Kittrell!!
He did so good- no screaming! ( No screaming until everyone left after the reception, that is.)
We're so glad all of our family and friends were able to come and celebrate with us! It made the day even more special than all of you realize!  We love you!!

My Little Ballerina!!

Daniel and I surprised Ashlyn yesterday...
Daniel picked her up from school early, brought her home, I told her to change into her leotard quickly, then we got in the car and headed to Meridian to audition to be in "The Nutcracker"!!!
We were there for HOURS....
They lined all the girls (and 1 cute little boy) up on stage and the real Russian ballerina had them all doing different ballet moves to see who gets to be what.
Ashlyn got picked to be an angel!!!
After being assigned roles, practice began.  (That's why we were there for hours... I didn't realize what I was getting myself into.)
But, it's definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity- Ashlyn will remember this for the rest of her life! She is so excited! And I'm so glad I decided to take her yesterday.
I'm so glad I was a good mom and remembered to  take my camera and my video camera so I could record the whole thing for her- plus she can watch the video and practice her moves... She will be rehearsing in Meridian with all of the other angels several times before the performance in November... I wonder if she'll fall in love with the dance studio she'll be rehearsing at and want to join afterwards... that's gonna be a lot of gas money going back and forth!  But, usually, whatever Ashlyn wants, Ashlyn gets- one way or another.
I can't wait until November 23rd for the ballet!!!

I Heart Pinterest!

I really really do. I've been on for a while now- and found tons of great "why didn't I think of that!?" things, along with great recipes and even some great tutorials for anything from cutting glass, to making your own clothes.  First off, I don't sew.  At all.  So, when I found a simple little tutorial from http://www.theseams.blogspot.com/ I just had to try it.  The material I got cost a whopping $2.00.  Yep- just $2.00.  And I was super pleased when it actually worked for me!!  I love a vest/wrap/scarf for fall/winter.  And I love that I can make my own for just $2.00.  I highly suggest you try it.  Seriously- there is absolutely no sewing involved.  You can also find the tutorial link from my pinterest page under "my style pinboard".  Now go make you one!
